Get Ready to Bake with Great British Bake Off's Steven Carter Bailey

Anyone who watched last year’s Bake Off will have been blown away by Steven’s stunning creations, always challenging himself on style and substance. Now, in his debut class, keen bakers can learn contemporary and creative techniques whilst picking up a host of tips and ideas to turn their bakes from edible to incredible.

For some of us baking is something you only do on special occasions... or when you have a craving for cake batter licked from the whisk.

For me baking has always been a form of therapy; the ultimate procrastination from an assignment or something to cheer me up when feeling unwell. I mean, who doesn’t feel better after cake?! It was something I did for fun and I wasn't really that bothered by how it looked as long as it tasted delicious. That was until drool–worthy photos of delicious treats to lust after became a trend and I started to question why I couldn’t achieve the same results.

One person who knows how to take a cake to the next level and is Steven Carter Bailey, who many of you will be familiar with after he won the nation’s hearts with showstoppers snazzier than Noel Fielding’s shirts in last year’s Great British Bake Off.

A quick scroll through his Instagram feed, and feasting your eyes on some of the most awe-inspiring and whimsical cakes you’ve ever seen, it’s easy to see why many accused him of being ‘too good’ for the competition.

Crediting his mum with his passion and exceptional baking talent, Steven recalls a childhood where the oven was always on. "She always had something on the go. I learnt so much as I grew up watching my mum bake.

"The first thing I ever made was a lemon drizzle cake at the age of nine and I carried on from there. I’ve now been baking for 25 years!"

“His Leiths class will help you create your own breathtakingly beautiful cakes worthy of a thousand photos.”

It came as no surprise then when he received the first of many highly coveted ‘Hollywood Handshakes’ for his Lemon and blackcurrant drizzle steamed pudding. He went on to be awarded first place in three technical tasks and you can take your pick from any of the showstoppers that helped him clinch a hat-trick of 'Star Baker' titles from his infamous loaf shaped cake to an impressive chess set made of biscuits.

So, after pulling out the stops for Prue and Paul, Steven’s taken his skills, style and experience in the tent to create a Leiths class to help you create your own breathtakingly beautiful cakes worthy of a thousand photos.

From an ombré ruffle design (pictured), to a Chocolate drop cake with honeycomb crunch and all of the techniques in between, it's set to be a delicious day.

For those of you wanting to add some flair to your bakes, pick up a host of tips from the man himself by joining us this June to create your own showstopper in How to Decorate Cakes with Steven Carter Bailey.
