Gut health is a hot topic at the moment, and for good reason. There’s an abundance of fascinating research exploring the importance of gut health in relation to our overall health and wellbeing. This new way of thinking has certainly made its impact in the food world, with gut-friendly foods being high on many foodies’ agendas.

Pickled foods and kimchi have made their way to the top of the list; as well as being recognised as beneficial for the gut, these foods are widely sought after for their unique flavour. They are popular for adding sharp, piquant flavours and freshness to a dish, as well as texture as the vegetables keep their al dente crunch. They can be enjoyed as a standalone snack or be used to cut through rich elements in a dish.

Join us at Leiths for a day dedicated purely to pickling; learn to make your own flavoursome pickles, which can live patiently in your cupboard for months, ready to add some punch to any meal.

The day is made up of a series of demonstrations and practical cooking exercises, and you will be able to take home with you everything you make yourself on the day. This class also includes a light lunch.

Your day will comprise of a mixture of hands on cookery and demonstrations performed by the chef who is running the session. The exact format will vary from class to class depending on the style of cuisine and, in the case of visiting chefs, their individual teaching style.
