Due to the coronavirus outbreak Leiths has made the difficult decision to cancel all planned courses (except the Intermediate Certificate Assessments and our online courses) until the 14th April. In these exceptional circumstances all students who have booked places on our courses will be offered the opportunity to cancel or reschedule their course. If you are currently in the process of taking a multi-part course, you will be offered new dates to complete the course later in the year. Of course we will be dealing with a high volume of calls and emails and we thank you for your understanding and patience during this unsettling time. We look forward to cooking with you at Leiths in the near future.

Summary Food Writing Retreat with Andy Lynes

Retreat to Leiths with nothing but your best pen and favourite notebook and spend the weekend with expert food writer and author, Andy Lynes.

Andy's work has taken him around the globe, treading grapes in the Duoro Valley, picking olives in Sicily, cooking with TV chefs and eating and drinking his way around some of the hottest restaurant destinations in the world from Chicago to Bangkok.

He’s written about it all as a columnist for the Telegraph, Independent and olive magazine; food and drink editor and restaurant critic of the Metro, and as a contributor to numerous publications including BBC Good Food, Sainsbury’s magazine, Food Arts (in America), The Caterer and Chef magazine. He is also the author of four books on food, the latest of which is Brighton’s Best Cookbook: Recipes from the Top 20 Restaurants.

Andy will guide you through a series of short presentations, tailored writing exercises and peer feedback sessions, which will lead you to discover your own unique food writing voice.

Using examples of work by some of the best food writers in history, you will analyze and discuss what makes the writing so impactful and memorable. You will learn the best writing techniques to make readers feel that they are right here with you at the table, or right beside you at the food market.
