Summary Young Food Presenter: Cooking for the Camera

Suitable for 11 - 16 year olds. This course runs from 9am until 3.30pm each day.

This course is ideal for those bright young things dreaming of taking to tomorrow’s TV kitchens, live stages and YouTube channels.

Rising stars will learn surprisingly tricky skills such as telling the audience key recipe information - ingredients and measurements - whilst also cooking on camera! 

Technical presenting aspects such as using Autocue, voice projection and interviewing will also be covered.

Not only are these skills ideal for those who dream of cooking for an audience; the techniques learned will help children with their general confidence, presentation style and public speaking.  

This course is offered in partnership with Chef’s Training, who work with a number of celebrity chefs and some of the world’s best culinary schools.

There will be plenty of support to help students relax and build their confidence on camera.

Topics and activities covered will include:

  • Basic principles of communication
  • Concentration and improvisation 
  • Presenting to camera
  • Co-presenting
  • Working with Autocue
  • Cooking for an audience/the camera
  • Interviewing techniques
  • A Bake Off-style cooking exercise

Lunch will be provided each day. At the end of the course, each student will be given footage of their Bake Off exercise.

Optional extras
Each person (or parent) can take the option of purchasing:

  • All the filmed footage (£25)
  • Photographs (£45)

Please note - This course does not cover the use of a video camera or video editing; it is focused on the skills you need when you are in front of a camera.
