The Wine & Spirit Education Trust provides globally recognised education and qualifications in wines, spirits and saké, for professionals and enthusiasts.

This three day course is perfect for individuals who wish to advance their wine knowledge. The WSET Level 2 qualification provides a more in depth look at wine grape varietals, producing regions and factors affecting the quality, price and characteristics of wine. 

Led by Johnnie Parkhurst, a respected wine educator and consultant, students will learn key classifications and labelling terminology, as well as going through a basic overview of the key categories of spirits and liqueurs. 

Students will complete a multiple choice exam on the final day of the course. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

For beginners, we offer WSET Level 1: Award in Wines in a one-day class format.

In order to ensure that all students are registered for the exam, we will only be able to accept bookings made a minimum of 10 working days prior to the class date. 

  • The cut off date for booking the course starting Thursday 26th July is Thursday 12th July

Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions. This qualification is regulated by Ofqual.

Course content WSET Level 2: Award in Wines and Spirits

What you will learn:

  • How wine is made?
  • What factors influence wine style?
  • The key white and black grape varieties and their characteristics
  • The important wine-producing regions of the world in which these grapes are grown
  • Label terminology
  • The production of sparkling, sweet, and fortified wines
  • Food and wine pairing principles
  • The principal categories of spirits and liqueurs, and how they are made
  • How to describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

Additional information:

  • Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions
  • This qualification is regulated by Ofqual

Wine and food have been Johnnie's passion since growing up in Paris. After spending nearly two decades in the restaurant trade and four years as a wine merchant, he now enjoys imparting his experience by teaching WSET & bespoke courses to restaurant staff and discerning individuals all over London.
